AREA
OF EXPERTISE
I have practised in the area of Conveyancing and Property Law for 20 years. This has involved assisting clients in the purchase and sale of residential houses and units, as well as commercial property. The practice of law in these areas
has also involved assisting clients in respect of problems relating to finance and mortgage documents and assisting in the completion and liaison with Financiers to satisfy all requirements to enable settlement of their property to be effected.

LAWYER
PROFILE
Kenneth Pointon
Solicitor and Principal
I have been admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Queensland and a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of the Northern Territory since March 1982. After completing studies in Brisbane I obtained Articles of Clerkship with the Crown Solicitor for the Northern Territory, and after admission in the Territory I decided to return to Brisbane to commence practice at Springwood. After a few years and having always been attracted to the beauty of North Queensland, my wife and I decided to relocate and I commenced practice in Cairns and have continued to practice here for the last 15 years.
Practising in the Property area of law has resulted in
myriad of issues being addressed for my clients, for
example, unresolved body corporate issues, fencing
disputes, questions relating to the results of building
and pest inspection reports, what constitutes fixtures and
fittings as distinct from chattels, to name but a few.

CUSTOMERS, FEES AND POLICY
The firm is happy to provide a quote for work which is outside the scope of work performed through Legalmart. The customer is encouraged to discuss in as much detail as possible the nature of the problem so that it assists in determining the level of fees for the matter. In respect of payment in any conveyance related matter fees are generally payable on or before the date of settlement but if any client is having difficulty they are encouraged to discuss a suitable, mutually agreeable arrangement. Stamp Duty of course must be paid on or before settlement as this has to be accounted to the Office of State Revenue.
