Margot de Groot - Managing Partner
Margot de Groot is the founding partner of de Groots and
has specialised in estate planning for many years. She has
been a member of several committees of the Queensland Law
Society, including the Succession Law Committee from 1998
to 2002. She has also chaired Law Australasia (a national
association of law firms), is currently a member of the
Board of the Queensland Institute of Medical Research
Trust, and is also a member of the Executive Committee of
the Queensland Branch of the Society of Trust & Estate
Practitioners. Margot is a member of the Australian
Institute of Company Directors.
Dr John de Groot - Special Counsel
John is a leading specialist in Wills and Estate Law and
author of a number of definitive publications on the
subject. These include: "Wills Probate & Administration
Practice (Queensland)" and "Family Provision in Australia"
(an estate litigation text), of which he is co-author.
John serves as Chairman of the Queensland Law Society's
Succession Law Committee and of its Advisory Committee on
Specialist Accreditation (Succession Law); and
Adjunct Professor at the T. C. Beirne School of Law at the
University of Queensland and a regular presenter at
seminars dealing with Succession Law issues.
He is an accredited mediator and case appraiser appointed
by the Supreme Court of Queensland and has mediated in
numerous Family Provision claims and other complex
disputes involving large estates.
